Classic gilding and more ...

Thank you for your interest in my work. The processing of gold leaf, along with many other techniques, is just one characteristic feature of a gilder's craft. It is my special need to dispel the prejudice that the gilder's field of work is only concerned with gilding itself. The field of activity of the gilders encompasses a variety of different techniques: the craft is concerned with color theory, proportion theory, materials science, stylistics, restoration, design and, above all, with execution that is based on the various teachings. The gilding trade has existed since antiquity and has remained almost unchanged in terms of materials and techniques. These were finally listed in the UNESCO directory of intangible cultural heritage in 2016. The challenge of this time-honored craft lies in bringing old techniques into harmony with modern designs, combining them and realizing a classic and contemporary design. Every object is individually and by hand made in all work steps and is therefore always unique. The intensity that results from self-made colors from color pigments and the use of different leaf metals cannot be achieved by any other technology. In addition, working with these original materials of the highest quality guarantees a longevity of the objects that can even reach centuries. Convince yourself of my work.
